Former U.S. Attorney and Missouri House Speaker, Catherine Hanaway, is the Chair of Husch Blackwell. In addition to being the first woman to lead the firm as Chair, she has also served as the chief federal law enforcement officer for the Eastern District of Missouri, was the only woman Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives, and served on staff for U.S. Senator Kit Bond for five years. As U.S. Attorney, she supervised more than 4,000 criminal, affirmative and defensive civil cases and personally tried cases to jury verdicts. She also supervised and assisted in the development of cutting-edge theories of criminal prosecution. Ms. Hanaway was a candidate for Missouri governor in 2016, and she led President George W. Bush’s campaign in Missouri in 2000.

She is actively involved in the St. Louis community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Regional Business Council, as a board member on the St. Louis Regional Crime Commission, and on the Executive Committee and Chair’s Council with United Way of Greater St. Louis.

Ms. Hanaway received her Bachelor of Arts from Creighton University and her Juris Doctorate from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law.
